Burdock group Consultancy Services for LNG projects
The Burdock group, is active in 17 countries, by providing project management, recruitment and consultancy services for different sectors including the sector Oil & Gas.
Considering the growing evidence that LNG will be the fuel of the next 20-30 years, and the proliferation all around the world of any type of LNG projects and initiatives, the Burdock group has created an LNG hub, by concentrating its LNG expertise in its Italian office, Burdock Italy in Rome.
The LNG business world differentiates three lines of work, with quite different characteristics and values:
- Large-Scale LNG: is a mature business area that monetizes large gas reserves situated in locations from where transportation via pipeline is infeasible or not economical.
- Mid-Scale LNG: is essentially a scaled-down large LNG business intended to monetize smaller gas reserves, to break the economy of scale by using modular units, to open smaller sized markets or to provide peak shaving of seasonal fluctuations.
- Small-Scale LNG: is an emerging business area, intended to monetize small domestic gas resources such as biogas, gas from landfill, coal mines, flare and small stranded pockets. End users are typically too small to be served by large Import terminals, such as off-grid small industries or fuel retail or bunkering stations. The crucial difference with large / mid LNG business it that the key to the small scale LNG success is an inventive management of innovation as well as of the opportunities offered by the green finance, the ability to monetize small gas streams and to create new small markets and business models.
The common concern for all LNG ventures is a well-conceived business model, because no one can expect to set a reliable LNG business if it has no control on the overall value chain. Moreover, a public friendly project management approach is particularly critical because notwithstanding the excellent LNG safety statistics, more often than not, LNG new projects are killed by the hostility of the surrounding communities.
The Burdock group disposes of a pool of cross functional resources with expertise in all links of the LNG value chain who can support and assist project Owners along all the project stages to put together the optimal value chain, providing these services as totally “independent”, and is not associated to any of the LNG value chain players.
Not only is the Burdock group now assisting private ship-owners in assessing the setting up of small scale LNG bunkering infrastructures in Southern Italy, by liquefying natural gas or bio-methane, but we are also involved in several large-scale LNG projects worldwide.
